Once upon a time...

When I first saw the bumper sticker “Art Saves Lives!” something powerful stirred in me as I recognized my own life in those simple words. Before I ever heard of ideas such as “trauma”, “healing”, or “personal development” I engaged with creative expression as a life line.

Art sheltered and consoled me as I navigated an insecure and unpredictable childhood. Whether dabbling in the visual arts, dancing, or singing, art brought me back home to myself and gave me a way to experience and trust myself despite the chaos and uncertainty around me.

Looking back on it now, it is clear to me that it wasn’t just me doing art, but that creating art naturally connected me with other people within our small town community, giving us a shared sense of meaning, purpose and belonging. Helping people reconnect and align with what matters most in their lives is something that brings me immense joy and inspiration.

In this together...

We are not meant to handle it all alone, especially in some dark corner. While it took me a long time to understand this, most of us do better, feel better, and heal more deeply when we share our story with others who are present with us and care. You do not need to “be good at it”, or “get it right”. There are no prerequisites to doing therapy. Your sense of comfort, ease, and safety is my priority. While therapy can bring about its own discomfort and resistance, I understand and appreciate this, and will always work with you just where you are.

Other influences...

I practice inclusive, trauma, and polyvagal informed psychotherapy in a style that reflects CBT, DBT, SE, and EMDR. You can expect basic “talk therapy” much of the time, customized to meet you where you are. I got my Master of Arts degree from Naropa in Somatic Psychotherapy and Dance/Movement Therapy in 1999, at a time when the field of somatic and body-mind psychotherapy was coming to life, so the opportunity to get creative with therapy is always an option, and mindfulness is woven into every session.

In my free time...

I enjoy being silly, designing, crafting, dancing, singing, and laughing a lot with my teenage and young adult children, watching K-dramas, walking our dog, hiking in the mountains near streams and lakes, singing and learning to play guitar, and practicing yoga and meditation.

My specialties...

I enjoy helpling people with anxiety, high sensitivity, low self worth, codependence, relationships, ADHD, PTSD and sexual trauma, disordered eating and body dysmorphia, and health issues such as autoimmune disease, and spiritual connection.
